Screen & speaker recording for Windows

Record your screen.
Speaker included.

Do your tutorials, bug reports, or quick product demos still start life as screenshots, arrows drawn in an image editor, and long explanations to go with them? That costs time and still leaves questions open. CaptureStudio takes that off your plate: record your screen and yourself in sync, have clicks highlighted automatically, and export a finished, shareable video — in minutes instead of half an hour of post-production.

Core features

What CaptureStudio does for you

From picking the target to the finished export, CaptureStudio covers the entire screen-recording workflow — no editing software required.

🖥
Target selection

A window picker lists every open window — record the whole screen or target a single window, no matter which application it belongs to.

Fullscreen or window App-independent
🎙
Speaker recording

Camera and microphone capture a second video alongside the screen. A live self-preview gives the speaker orientation while staying technically excluded from the recording itself.

Webcam + microphone Self-preview excluded
🖱
Click highlighting

Mouse clicks are automatically highlighted during recording — choose from five styles (ring, filled circle, ripple, dot, crosshair). Ideal for tutorials where it's otherwise hard to tell where a click landed.

Control bar

A floating control bar accompanies every recording with a live timer, a mute toggle for the microphone, and a clear stop button — no need to switch back to the main window.

🗂
Project management

Recordings are stored and managed permanently per project — including metadata such as date, time, duration, and whether a speaker video was captured. Play, export, or delete right from the list.

Post-recording preview

Right after you stop, CaptureStudio shows a preview: the screen large, the speaker as a freely draggable picture-in-picture on top — save, export, or discard with one click.

Portable export

Export produces a standalone folder with screen.mp4, speaker.mp4, and a combined combined.html that plays both videos in sync in the browser — shareable even without any player software installed.

Settings

Choose your camera and microphone, set video quality (Low/Medium/High) and frame rate, pick a default storage location for projects, and adjust the speaker overlay's position (4 corners) and size (3 sizes).

How it works

From recording to finished video
in four steps

No editing software, no detour through screenshots. CaptureStudio records what happens on your screen — and you, if you want it to.

Create a project

Create a new project and use the window picker to set fullscreen or a specific window as the recording target.

Record

Optionally switch on the speaker video and go — screen, camera, and microphone run in sync, with clicks highlighted on request.

Review

The preview after stopping shows both videos — keep the recording or discard it right away.

Export

Archive it in the project or export it as a portable folder with a browser player and share it.

A few details worth knowing
New · Click highlighting

Five styles, so every click stays visible

In tutorials and screencasts, a simple mouse click often goes unnoticed in the video. CaptureStudio automatically highlights every click during recording — choose from a ring, a filled circle, a ripple effect, a dot, or a crosshair.

  • Visible directly in the recorded video, no post-production needed
  • Style can be changed anytime in settings
  • Especially helpful for small UI elements and icons

Project management

Organize recordings, not loose video files

Instead of hunting for video files in Explorer, CaptureStudio manages every recording as an entry in its project — with date, time, duration, and a note on whether a speaker video is included.

  • Play, export, or delete recordings directly from the list
  • Multiple recordings per project, e.g. per chapter or customer

Post-recording flow

Watch first, decide second

As soon as you stop recording, a preview opens automatically — the screen large, the speaker video as a freely draggable picture-in-picture on top.

  • Keep, export, or discard the recording right away
  • No need to switch to an external editor for the simple case

Capabilities

More than a simple screen recorder

CaptureStudio is built for smooth recordings — with project management, portable export, and settings that go beyond plain capture.

New · Window picker
Fullscreen or a specific window

Instead of always capturing the whole screen, a picker dialog lets you target a single open window — no matter which application it belongs to.

Fullscreen
All monitors
Window: Invoice.pdf — Adobe Reader
Single window
New · Self-view
The speaker sees themselves — the recording doesn't

During recording, a small preview window shows the speaker their own camera image for orientation — technically excluded from the screen capture, so it never shows up in the recorded video itself.

Portable export
One export for both videos

Screen and speaker video export as a standalone folder with combined.html, which plays both in sync in the browser — shareable even without CaptureStudio or a special player.

Preview
Decide right after you stop

Save, export, or discard — the preview after recording shows immediately whether the take worked before it ever lands in the project.

Recording quality
Quality and frame rate, freely chosen

Settings let you pick video quality (Low/Medium/High) and frame rate — depending on whether file size or sharpness matters more. Encoding uses Media Foundation as H.264/AAC.

Quality: High
Full resolution, high bitrate
Quality: Low

Five styles to choose from

Ring, filled circle, ripple, dot, or crosshair — just try which style fits your tutorial best in settings.

Control bar
Timer in view, mute the mic anytime

A floating control bar accompanies the recording with a live timer, a mute toggle for the microphone, and a clear stop button — no need to switch back to the main window in between.

No installation required

CaptureStudio ships as a standalone x64 single-file EXE — no .NET runtime, no installation, no administrator rights, just download and run.

The interface is available in German and English; an in-app language switch in settings is coming in a future version.
